200hp mercury xri ?

ok so i dont know if its a motor or boat question. its a 94 maybe 95 flightcraft barefooting boat with a 200hp mercury XRI outboard. before it starts normally a beep beep beep then you wait a few seconds and start it. but now after it starts the beeping just continues very fast and loud. thought it was an oil alarm. topped it off and still continued. i also noticed water coming from the control panel. possible short. this is a friends boat so sorry bout the year in accuracy. any ideas

The Water coming from the control panel, if you mean the dash board, most of the barefoot boats had airguid speedometers and the bladders leak after a few years, or if its a hole in the hose from the water pick up tube, that could be your leak,
