With the engine off, no shore power and no generator, measure the voltage at the battery. Start the engine and then turn off the generator and shore power. Measure the battery voltage at about 1500 rpm. If it is less than 13.5 - 14.5 volts the charging system is not working. Your boat should also have a voltmeter or ampmeter on the console. What does it indicate? An amp meter reads -60 - 0 - +60 or -30 - 0 - +30. If the gauge reads in in minus range the charging system is not working. If you have a voltmeter the gauge reads about 8 - 18 volts typical. If the gauge indicates less than 13.5 volts with the engine running the charging system is not working. Since the engine kicks over on shore power or generator, that says the cabling is probably ok. Battery condition is question able here and can be load tested at any auto parts store. I suspect however that the charging system is not working or that there is a transfer switch somewhere in the system that is not functioning properly.
