Motor question - year?

We picked up a boat (still trying to ID that as well). Motor is Mercury Twin 35HP. The serial number is 1585101 on the transom of motor. Any idea what year? Hubby thinks he found 1971 on it somewhere, but not a sure thing. Thanks for any help. Boat will be next
