Hi, question for the techs :)
I need some help, when I pull the choke, my motor runs great but when I stop the choke my motor dies. Any Ideas??? I'm guessing the fuel pump but I'm not sure!

Almost 100% certain it needs a carb clean. If it was the fuel pump you would be able to keep it going by pumping the priming bulb.

You know what? I used the slow speed adjust knob and it didn't work.
I did the Idle speed knob with no results too.

Thanks for your help. I search and I found some topics regarding this problem. Probably a blocked jet from carburetor, so I'll let you guys know :)

the rubber bulb in the fuel line between the tank and the engine, the bit you squeeze to prime the fuel system.
#8 IN THIS DIAGRAM

Yes I'd agree almost certainly the slow speed jet blocked, but if it is you should be able to get the motor to run at high speed but die as soon as you return to idle. If you have messed with the slow running adjustment try sorting that out first.

Re: Johnson 9.9hp JR10RCRA 1984 Fuel Pump?

Hi Vic, Problems solved, yes 2 problems found :)
1- Carb (Cleaning solved the problem of starting the motor)

2- Fuel Pump(Replacing solved the problem of killing the motor at full speed)

Plus such a wonderful search option you have in the forum helped me to test the fuel pump simple and easy.
+ teach me how to start my motor when cold.(2 or 3 pulls)Took me 10+ Before the search.

Now my motor is good and running !!!

Thanks to all
