30 yamaha no high speed

30hp Yamaha outboard

I seem to have trouble obtaining full speed this year with my 30 hp. it runs fine at idle and trowls well, but does not want to go any faster then slightly above trowling speed. It was stored with fuel stabilizer run thru the motor before storage indoors all winter. I "made ready" the motor in early spring by cleaning all plugs and draining/running new gas thru the motor as it sat in my driveway. Unfortunately that is where it ended as family commitments prevented me from taking to the lakes. It sat stored in my garage from May to July not running. Any ideas what the problem may be?? As a side note it ran well last year with no idle or high speed problems.

remove the carbs and clean thoroughly, especially the jets. you have crud in the high speed jets.

Just changed the plugs and took it out for a ride. runs fine....must have been a bad plug....Funny thing is thou is that ity sounded normal .................

PS. I appreciate the help....do you think some type of carb cleaner sprayed into the throats of all three carbs is a good idea??? Maybe before I store it for next year?? Any thoughts......
