My motor will start with the electric start (too hard to start for rope) and will run if you rev it way up but will die right away if you back off the throttle. This is with the hose and the ear muff things.
I have verified the compression to be equal in both cylindars around 90 to 100 PSI if I remember correctly. I also rebuilt the carb a year ago and it ran great. I tanked the carb anyway and blew it out with compressed air. The float is level. I removed the fuel line and pulled the rope and the fuel pump squirted gas. I replaced the power pack. What could be going on with this motor. Should I change the sensor, or the ignition coils?
Should I throw it out and buy a different motor? I am pretty sick of fooling with it but maybe yall can help. I have a manual also.

I had been using it at least twice a month and I run it out of gas when not using it. Hasn't been sitting unused.

I have a 1991 9.9 sailmaster and it had a similar problem...would only run on low speed with full choke. The fuel pump, hoses, connectors and tank were new so I figured it was a carb deal. I took it off and found the culprit was a crack in the plastic top on the carb. It was so small it took a magnifying glass to see it...but it leaked enough to ruin low speed running. The previous owner evidently did a carb job and torqued the plastic too much. Anyway a new top fixed it...but their are no aftermarkets on this so you have to buy from BRP. Plastic carb parts are junk compared to metal ones.

What part should I check for cracks? My bowl is metal. Thanks for the tip!
