Hey;

I have a 92 Evinrude 90 V4
Hasnt been in water last 3 years
Got it going
It keeps blowing a fuse (same fuse everytime)
Then, my power trim wont work and when I shut it off it wont start again
As soon as I change the fuse, start it and its running, use the power trim it blows it again!..Sometimes not right away but it never lats more than a few minutes...

Please help me out
Give me any and all ideas

THANKS!

Re: 1992 Evinrude 90HP V4 PROBLEMS!

bump..

So if you don't use the power trim you can run the engine fine?

What happens when you install a new fuse and just run the trim (engine off), it pops the fuse right?

Is the tilt lubed good? after being sat for 3 yrs and all.
Is the tilt motor straining?
Otherwise I'd look for cracked wiring, use a meter.

Unless it only blows the fuse when engine is running AND tilt is powered up and down, then you'll need help from the more experienced guys here,

just trying to keep your mssg from scrolling off, its a busy place.!

Re: 1992 Evinrude 90HP V4 PROBLEMS!

thanks for your reply
yes the engine runs ok
new fuse with engine off -trim works perfect up& down
tilt well lubed
tilt motor not straining_running free
if youstart the motor &put it in gear & power tilt while moving forwardeverything is ok until you try to tilt again , then no power in tilt &if you turn the motor off the motor is dead also . it seems when you do the 2 things at once the fuse blows . put in new fue , motor start right off .forward & trim motor the fuse blows again ??
any suggestions
thanks

you have a problem in the trim system. is the fuse you are changing the inline 20 amp fuse near the solenoid?
