Hello all.

I am having a problem with my 1992 150 hp Evinrude.
My mechanic just replaced the power pack, but when I am trying to troll with the motor at around 1000rpm it will start to sneaze and dye.
It will run fine with the first 10 minutes out on the water but then it progressively gets to the point where it wont run for more than 20 secs.
Starting off I pump the fuel bulb up tight so I am wondering if maybe it is running off the initial pumping.
Does this sound like a fuel pump problem?
Where can I find the cheepest fuel pump if that is the problem?

Thanks for all your help!

sounds to me like the carbs are dirty. have you check the spark or all 6 when it is acting up?

No I haven't checked the spark.
It stays running while in a water tank, but get it out to the lake and it acts up?

I'd be following Tashasdaddy's advice and expect the issue is with dirty carb(s) Does it run fine at wot(wide open throttle)? If so, I'd really be looking to the carbs for your answer.

Re: Keeps Dying at low RPM

Last time I had it out it did run fine at wot.
I will have to check it out on the idling rpm.
The mechanic I am going through charged me about $750 around 4 years ago to clean the carbs out, then recently the power pack went out and I had him do a few other things that cost me another $750, now I am having this problem, which I told him last time he had it to make it lake ready. Now he is saying it is probally the vro pump which will be another $500.
I think he is trying to get as much money out of me as he thinks he can!
