Re: 95 150 evinrude no spark
Good day everyone and thanks for your help. Sorry it's been a couple days,
but the rain has been relentless here in the North East.
Update, I disconnected boot, disconnected Black and yellow wire, still no spark
When I tilted motor up and removed carb covers alot of gas came out. I removed all plugs disconnected gas line and pumped motor dry. Cleaned all plugs and reinstalled. Since I was redoing everything I figured I would also replace the negative battery terminal on the battery since it was still snugged down with a wing nut. I then changed the fuse at the fusible link by the red boot plug.
The motor fired up first turn and ran like a pro.
So I think the answer here, was the following, but I'm not sure.
When I fired the motor for the compression check fuel line was still connected. This obviously flooded the carbs. I turned the key for long durations while it was flooded. I noticed the terminals were heating up, this obviously was the reason for the fuse blowing. The responsible party a wing nut on the negative terminal.
Question when testing compression should fuel line be disconnected?
Thanks again for all your help-Barry
