Transducer Problem, Airmar P-66

Hi everyone. I have a 27 foot Boston Whaler and it sits in salt water all the time. After 3 years, the above transom transducer fell off the rear of the boat and, of course, it constantly gets covered with barnacles. I have a Garmin 3006-C that is hooked up to this transducer. I have temp, speed, sonar and debth with this transducer. I want to switch to an 'in the hull" transducer. I know I will lose water temp and speed but the Boat is only 3 years old and this P-66 transducer will not tolerate being in salt water all the time. :(

My question is, does anyone know if I will be able to get sonar and debth capability with an "in the hull" transducer that Garmin offers on their web site? Thanks in advance for any replies. JOHN

Thanks for the reply Mr. dingbat. I really appreciate the information. Will the P-79 give me sonar? Thanks. JOHN

Sonar is the technology that is used to determine depth, so you will have sonar capabiltiy.

An easier fix to your transducer problem would be to use anti-fouling paint on your P66. Just apply a coat of anti-fouling to your transducer one a year and your good to go.
