replacement cockpit carpet

Has anyone used an online company to replace snap in cockpit carpet? The maufacturer of my boat (Chaparral) wants $900 to replace the cockpit carpet. It seems expensive to me. Any suggestions for a quality aftermarket option?

home depot, razor knive, snaps. my carpet came out 1st day, has never been back in.

what would you pit in that you can buy at home depot? astroturf?

After spending all the money I spent for my boat, I was looking for something better than astroturf! There are some online stores such as Welcome-Aboard that will custom make a carpet if you send them a template from your original carpet. Has anyone ever ordered carpet like this, and if so, how did it turn out?

there are a couple of snap-in alternatives. top o the line would be corinthian marine (google), they have 40 oz carpets, berbers, and super-nice backing. they sent me some samples when i was shopping. there are also a few places with lighter carpet and cheaper prices if you search marine and/or snap in carpet.

Check your local canvas guy. Most of them do carpet for boats. Not only will they do it right like adding the rubber backing, snaps, edging, and the right color.
