Re: Why dont water come out?
You should have a steady stream of water flowing out of the lower cowling telltale when the engine is running. The telltale shows that you have water pressure to the block, ahead of the thermostats. Generally, a strong telltale stream shows that the impeller is functioning. If you have no telltale, you need find out why-perhaps the cowling nozzle is plugged. In addition to the impeller, you want to be sure the thermostats are functioning properly. They function to let heated water out of the block, back into the midsection. At idle, water droplets will exit the two midsection exhaust relief holes after the thermostats open-usually a minute or so after starting the engine. When you are on plane, two huge streams of water should exit the same two exhaust relief holes. If one or both of the thermostats are stuck open, the engine can run cold, causing running issues, and piston/ring coking problems. You may want to open up the thermostat housing and check the stats and pressure relief valves for proper operation.
