The point of contention from your wife NEEDS to be How can this happen in MY class room in THIS day and age?? Outrage at the fact it COULD happen would be my first reaction................I would request/demand a meeting with all the powers to be up to and including the School Board. No ands ifs or buts about it....................that said......................it need not be a media circus...................... and would be best served if the initial meeting and possibly all subsequent meetings were closed doored. Followed by implementation of whatever plan or action it required to correct the issue.

OK so demand may be a little harsh....................but teachers have full access to principals who have access to the school board.......................so its hardly a stretch............................................... Its only drama until your child is subjected to it, or your wife or friend catches flack or looses a job over it.

There are a lot of proxies and websites you can use to get around blocked sites. Ex. www.Btunnel.com, schools sometimes find out what websites students are using and block them, but in the case of the website i posted above there are A-Ztunnel.com's. so that means theres 26 different possibilities. and thats only one specific website, there are tons of ways around blocked sites.

She can, and should report this to every single school district employee and administrator, the school board, superintendent, mayor, the teachers union, and the state board of education. Then the PTA and all parents.

The quickest way to do this, is to file a sexual harassment suit against the school district, claiming SHE is the victim of someone leaving porn for her to see. Sue them all for not providing adequate protection. That will put them on notice and get it fixed.

Of course, your wife will be out of a job.

Well, can you say early retirement, and lets buy a new boat with all the money dear.

But seriously, this needs to be brought to as many people as possible, at all levels, as fast as possible, including EVERYONE listed in the first sentence (above). Forget policy, protocol, and procedure, spread the word, cc everyone the same letter with a list of all the recipients on it. If they know that all those people were notified in writing, they will move fast to fix the problem.

Thanks for the ideas. A report will be made to the principal. If any child ever sees porn by accident, intent or because "someone" left it there the wife WILL NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT OR THE ANGRY PARENTS....... not her problem now

Look no further. Look for the maintenance man who cleans the school on the weekend. Probably took his lunch and and watched a movie while on a break. Only one i would know who would be in school on a Saturday.

Who do you think those parents will blame first, the teacher who they think has full control over that classroom, or a principal that may or may not even wander into that classroom? Sure your wife could TRY to defer them to the principal once they call or come down to chew her out, but she'll likely be crucified before the parents ever get the story straight.

Didn't he say it was an in-service type day when most people were there? It could be anyone, including the principal. So... don't be so quick to judge the janitor.

Its almost flawless...We employee it at our business...The standing Statement Applies...Big Brother is watching and doesnt make mistake's.... It will tell you which comp on a network of a 100 is trying to go where they shouldn't and it wont let them....... what time what place and what access code was used if someone unlocks it.....and your not going to use any hack program to get keys...

UPdate...Principal notified. Friday the principal was given a letter detailing what the teacher found. The principal called the head custodian to the office and asked who had access to the room. He said then he didnt have a key but several contractors were at the school during the day. Now the principal will find out where they were at the time the computer was used and be able to know if it was them or the custodian.It seems he does have a key because he used it to let the wife enter the room last week. Someones going to get in trouble for this. The principal is also calling the ITperson downtown with questions as to why this could happin. If the contractors can show they were some place else at the time the porn was accessed it looks to me like the violator can only be one person , the custodian.Sucks for him but he deserves it for messin with equipement the wife is responcible for.

Been reading this thread for a couple days now. 18 year school district employee here. I suspected the custodian from the git go. He should have access to every key for the building. Sounds like your district is a bit behind the times when it comes to computer security. Every employee should have there own log in and pass code. Finding the culprit would have been as easy as looking to see who was logged in. They would have to have still been logged in if the website was visible on the computer. No brainier. They should also have websence installed to keep the bad stuff out.

We have had a few custodians and teachers fired for similar things.

No it wasnt. The computer was not a laptop but one of 30 tied together and linked through the school system server located at the main administration building, Porn was downloaded at school. So far NOTHING is being done even though the custodian has offered no real evidence that he didnt unlock the door. Quote from the teachers "boss".."Well if they (the children) are determined enough,I guess they can find ways to find it(hard core porn) " Too bad our school system is mixed with teachers and administrators some who care and others who dont.If I went on a rant about stuff I know about in the system I would be here ALL the time and stay pissed off,so I try to just not to think about it.
