I have a Dynasty boat with 3.0 Mercruiser sterndrive.

I am going to replace fuel pump on this boat and local dealer says the part number is 861676A 1

I ordered this and it arrived but the inlet is 180 degrees different from current pump. All images at dealer and online for this part number show the inlet excactly like current pump. I returned pump for refund and ordered online based on part number and picture. It arrived with inlet 180 degrees different.

To use this pump I will have to replace fuel line with longer one and reroute under engine or over starter.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I know some pumps can be "clocked" at different degrees. Does it look possible on yours?

This may sound silly... so forgive me in advance... but are you sure you are not trying to put it on up side down? Some of those pumps have the filter on the top and some on the bottom.

There are screws on a flange with gasket like it could be taken apart. I thought about that, but am hesitant about taking apart a brand new fuel pump.

The current one has the bowl down. Based on your comment I did take the new one to compare flange orientation to the old one on boat. The bowl has to be down from correct flange orientation, also that would put the outlet on the opposite side. The distributor would block the path of the line from pump to carb.

For the arm to be in the same orientation as current pump, the bowl will have to be down.

I have never taken a fuel pump apart. Are the any special tricks and item to watch out for?

yeah.... the screws are usually torx.... and the threads are usually sealed... don't strip them.
