Volvo Penta 275 outdrive. I want to pull the out drive and inspect the u-joints. Are there gaskets and such that I should have on hand before taking it out or can I use the exiting gaskets if they look ok?

No gaskets for pulling/installing the drive. Here is what you need to do the work though

1. A service manual

2. Grease for the ujoints, if they are serviceable

3. If you don't know the condition or age of the drive bellows, a new bellows

4. A Service Manual - Just in case you tried to ignore #1

I changed the ujoints on my 275 a couple weeks ago. You don't need to pull the whole drive, just the upper gear housing. If you go this route you will need the two o-rings between the upper and intermediate drives. With a drive that old I'd plan on changing the u-joints and bellows regardless. under $200 for the joints and bellows.

I used the seloc manual and this site for help. find a thread titled "5.7 ltr Volvo Penta making odd noise" I'll bet you'll find it usefull.

Good Luck!!

That's it! The only way to change a bellows on a VP.
It's an easy job, it does take some orings and you need to keep things clean so no corrosion or junk get's in the bearings & such.
