I just bought a 88 Renken boat last tuesday with a 3.0L 4 cyl. inboard. Took it out last night for drive and it started fine and idled fine and worked really nice for about the first 1/2 hr. and then i went to throttle it and it bogged. It didnt die, it just couldn't pull its self out of the water. Almost sounded like it wasn't getting enough fuel. But it had 1/2 a tank. Got back to the warf and shut it off and started it again and like i sad it idles fine it just bogs out when i try to open it up. I am completly new to this and it is my first boat. Just wondering if anyone can help me out!!

First, check to see if your choke plate is fully openned.

Can you get it up to speed if you go at it gently?

Joe.

Head up to the Adults Only sticky and read #1. That'll get you a good start to solving your problem.

my 96 3.0 was doing the EXACT same thing last weekend. I took it to a shop and I beleive they are going to clean up/redo the carbs.
