As the topic title says, my 1988 Johnson 110 seems to have a misfire on acceleration from a stop. Once the RPMs increase the misfire goes away immediately and the motor takes off running strong on all 4 cylinders. I could be wrong, but it almost seems like the motor may be loading up on fuel at idle and then when you nail the throttle it misfires till it clears it's self out?? My 1976 Johnson 20 hp did the exact same thing and I never did figure it out on that motor.
No adjustments that I can see on the carbs, so I guess when they're clean thats as good as they get?
Any ideas?

You should not get a "stutter" on accel.

What do you plugs look like? any one of them real clean looking? Especially #3?

Thanks for the reply DJ.
I had the plugs out on the weekend when I was setting up the ignition timing and they all looked normal and all looked the same. I even looked in at the tops of the pistons, same story there.
By the way, "Stutter" describes my condition perfectly.
engine idles smoothly at around 700 RPM and runs very well after the stutter has gone away, stutter occurs just off idle when pulling away from the dock at slow speed... Nail the throttle and the stutter goes away.
Any other ideas?
