rough idle/run

having problems with a 2004 f40 yamaha outboard. fuel was trashed but disposed of. new plugs(twice) new fuel (twice). still runs rough. at fast idle, tries to kick in but fails. fuel pump, electrical?

Carbeurated model? Have carbs cleaned, to check fuel pump, disconnect lines to carb or injectors and turn key over with can to catch fuel.
