1977 merc 500 12 pole ?

i have a 77 merc 500 and i am wanting to add a tach. i was thinking that this motor has a 12 pole alternator, but i am not certain. i looked in the teleflex catalog, and it doesnt have my motor listed. any info would be helpful

12 pole is correct... Any tacho that will take that will fit your engine........
