First, I realize I did not purchase a fountain or donzi. I'm about to buy a back-up prop and I want it to make this boat go as fast as it can. I live in the Houston area and we boat year-round. In the winter, we are making some longer runs with the boat. I've got the 13.7X17.5 4 blade, which came standard on my 2008 Moomba LSV with the 325hp motor. I know I'll sacrafice some low-end, doesn't matter, I've got the "all round" prop for summer. Turning 4,000rpm's for a crusing speed of around roughly 30mph sucks on long runs, not to mention the gas it drinks. Any recommendations on prop size and 3 or 4 blade? Thanks.

Re: Help picking correct prop

Need to know present max rpm and speed. and prop size.Wouldn't hurt to give us the details on your boat.I know I don't have a clue.
Your 325 will use about 32 gph(Gallons per hour) at wot (wide open throttle).
Your best pratical mileage will be between just on plane and about 2,000 rpm higher.Your 4 blade won't produce best max speed but may prove to be excellent for mileage at the right speed. The experts can suggest a prop for the best speed with the help of your specs.

Re: Help picking correct prop

The boat is a 2008 moomba LSV with a 5.7L indmar 325hp, it's a v-drive. The current prop is a 13.7X17.5 nibral four blade. I can turn it to 4,900rpm at WOT. That gets me about 44mph. I'm buying a spare/off-season prop and want to outfit it for top end.

Re: Help picking correct prop

To be a little sarcastic is a Moomba LSV 6 ft long or 60 ft. is it 1000 lbs ore 10,000
lbs.Imagine if i said I had a 1929 Dodge with a 125 hp 322 cu in 8 with a 14 X 14 prop cruising at about 2,100 rpm and asked what prop might give me the best speed.Folks here might know the moomba LSV but details would help prop selection.
Length, weight, type of hull Deep, semi V etc etc.
I don't even know if a moomba is a brand or style.
