I was at Home Depot a few weeks back and they had some 8x10 indoor/outdoor rugs for about 15 bucks. They looked to be pretty decents quality-wise. Might check into that.

Problem with some of the home center carpet is that it is thin and the adhesive will go right through it. Marine carpet has a rubber impregnated abcking and adhesive won't bleed through.

I've bought the Home Depot stuff and yup, adhesive will bleed through it. Once it dries it appears fine but I don't think it'll have a long life past a few years.

Home Depot has a neoprene backed indoor/outdoor carpet that worked fine for me.
Make sure you get the neoprene or it will bleed through
I found that out the hard way

Correct JoeCrow. I learned the hard way as well but I didn't see the other stuff at HD when I was there. Sold the boat 2 weeks later so I won't have to replace it.:)

Me and other members can attest that carpet will eventually get dirty and smelly. Have you considered some of the vinyl boat flooring that is available? Glues down like carpet, easy to keep clean, doesn't hold sand, fish blood and guts and smells.

I put the homedepot/lows (forget which one) carpet in my MFG 4 or 5 years ago. Will be replacing it with a vinyl product in the next year or so.

Just something to think about!
