Why are women still considered 2nd class citizens?
They are paid less on average for doing the same job.
Why is the married woman with dhildren scrutinized for working while the married man with children isn't?
I was just curious from the bashing of women this past week.

Re: Women

Being a man, I sorta wish that I could just up and take a 1 year leave, and still have the same job, and pay when I return...

I guess I'm a second class citizen as well.

Re: Women

Acceptance.....

My Mom did not work at a paying job but had a big job with 6 kids.

My first wifes mother was exactly in the same situation and raised 5 children.

It was accepted as "normal" not to work and the father was the bread winner..... as each child got older we all pitched in.

Initially when I was in the early period of being a newlywed and father I would not let my wife wok until my son started school......

The times and attitudes have changed. It is mandatory for most tho be DINKs to survive.

I work for a woman boss who makes probably 3x (or more) of what I make.... I don't think they are considered 2d class ...... not around my home. I guess it all depends on how you learn to accept change.

Hoss is right..... we males are like 9th class ...... and since we have two moderator warnings in under 30 minutes we could be lower.

I am becoming a believer that the senior citizens are viewed lower than females..... sad..... very sad.

Re: Women

A good Mother, Sister, Wife is equally as important as any good Father, Brother, Husband. But from 57 years of experience, I give the nod to the women of the world.

Re: Women

I have found that there are people who will argue just for the sake of it. Actions of the events lately remind me of the Cop shows. It seems as there is always some kind of excuse why it wasn't them, even though the video shows different.

I hove no problem with the opposite sex making the same amount of money as long as they can equally fulfill the job.

Re: Women

My Mom, my sisters, the Love Of My Life, my daughters and my daughters-in-law are all first class citizens who make as much or more than average males in their respective fields. Well, the LOML is retired, but she did well when she did go to work, after our children were grown.

During my careers I preferred working for female superiors. A shortage of testosterone makes people easier to deal with.

There are a plethora of excuses available to anyone who doesn't do as well, or get paid as well, as they wish. That phenomenon knows no gender, culture or ethnicity.

Re: Women

My wife makes quite a bit more than I do. My boss is a woman. I like having a woman as a boss, I'm no "threat" to her. As a supervisor I don't particulary care for having multiple women work for me. A single, as in one only, woman is a great asset. Multiple women seem to conspire to "overthrow" the other women. Just my observations.

Re: Women

Flyrod,
The only bashing I've noticed has had to do with operating a boat.
I see many women operating boats albeit not he majority. It's been my personal experience they can either do it or they can't.
Unless I've missed something, this should not plunge them to 2nd class citizens?

Re: Women

I don't know any women who make less than their male counterparts at the same job level. I do know a whole lot of women who never had to register for the draft, and won't ever have to worry about that.

But they all get to vote for the commander in chief!

Speaking of "Cops Episodes", ever notice how it doesn't matter who's involved in a domestic dispute? No matter what happened, the guy will always go to jail. I've seen an episode where a guy was stabbed by his drugged out girlfriend while he slept (there were witnesses corroborating the story), but because he kicked her in the chest to get her off of him, he got to go to jail too.

My wife is a Paramedic/Firefighter. She's one of the few women who is actually capable of passing the physical requirements. For a while, she wasn't. Rather than doing what most women who want to work in that field do, and complain about how the standards are sexist, because women can't pass them. She actually worked her butt off in order to get to where she COULD meet the standards.

Far too many cities have been sued by people like that, been forced to lower their standards for women, and now endanger the lives of entire crews, because they've been forced by 'political correctness' to allow people who have no business there, onto their force.

Now, even though there were 100 guys who were more capable, and who WOULD have been fit to entrust the lives of other crew members to, they get to keep looking for a different job, so that someone with different genitalia, who isn't qualified, can have the job.

It's only fair, right?

How often are men awarded spousal support, or given custody of their children in a divorce? Basically, if the mother's not in prison, she takes the kids (and a nice fat "child support" check to go with it). If by some miracle, a man does get alimony, he's considered to be a "deadbeat", and a "freeloader".

For women, it's a badge of honor to bankrupt their ex. "I got the house, and the cars, and I get $2000 a month in alimony, and that loser lives in a 1 bedroom apt, and has to work 3 jobs, just to pay for my alimony. I really showed him!"

It's all just a part of the "victimhood" game that our society likes to play. If you don't make it in life, it's somebody else's fault.

Boy it sure does make for a nice bit**ing session when you just start complaining about how the world's out to get you.

"It's cause I'm Black"
"It's cause I'm Female"
"It's cause I'm old"
"It's cause I'm gay"
"It's cause I'm Christian"
"It's cause I'm good looking"
"It's cause I'm cross-eyed"
