I have just acquired a neat old 1966 Hydroswift boat with a (1966) Johnson 100 HP Seahorse outboard. The motor runs great, but we found that when we would kick it into gear, it would blow a fuse. We ran down the problem in the foot -- some wires to the gear box solenoid were shorting. Now I am wondering where I can find parts for the old dog. I need new lower seals for the lower unit case and I want to rebuild the water pump while I'm down there. Does anyone have a good point of contact or business which carries replacement parts for a 42 year-old motor? Also, is there another year of Johnson 100 which, in the event that I found another motor for parts, will bolt straight to a 1966?

They made that motor for 3 years, until '68, and each year had a completely different ignition system. The gearcases were all the same, and some of the parts were also used in the same years stern drives.

Water pumps are still available at dealers as well as most ignition parts for your '66. I don't think carb parts are available.

Thanks for such a prompt response. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get into the project. Good info. Thanks again.

You can view the parts book and buy parts direct from BRP at their website http://shop.evinrude.com/
They go back to 1968, so that will cover most of your motor, whenever they are the same.
