Hi there, I have just got my first omc engine, the model is J40R73S but has the name excalibur all over the cover. Does this mean anything regarding parts or specification? All help gratefully received.

Re: excalibur engine?

Nah...it's just a cool name for your 1973 40 hp. Either that or they pulled the outboard out of a big rock or something. Or maybe it was the official outboard motor of Camelot. Or it belonged to King Arthur, himself. Now...that would make it special. :D

All you need to order parts is the model number.

Re: excalibur engine?

marketing ploy!!!!

Next step up from the Javelin, I guess. Was that an actual OMC tradename in 1973, or something an owner added? I couldn't find any reference to it anywhere. I'm going to get some vinyl stickers made up for my 6hp that say, "Ol' Stinky.":D
