Hello,
I'm new to the forums, having just found the iboats site. What a great resource!
I was recently given an Evinrude 7.5 HP Fleetwin model 7518, which I think makes it a 1955. I'd like to replace the water impeller. Do I need to pull the powerhead off, or can I just pull the four bolts on the housing and pull the two halves apart? I tried the four bolts option, but when I pulled the housing down it felt like I was forcing something, so I stopped.
Thanks in advance for the advise!

You do need to pull the powerhead to disconnect the shift rod. When you do, pay attention to the carbon seal assembly at the top end of the drive shaft. It is vitally important that it not leak, which will destroy the engine over time.

You will need a 303467 powerhead gasket, a 303355 gasket for the seal, and a 303347 o-ring for the seal.

Good call on not forcing it. That could have turned out bad!

Thanks for the Information, support, and part numbers. Any idea where I could find the parts I'll need to do the job? I did a search on the Iboats.com parts section and it came back empty.

Thanks again! Hard to believe there's still a place to go for parts and advise on a motor that old.
