I am not sure what it is worth but I want to sell my boat. Can you help me determine what it is worth?

It is a mint condition 1999 Procraft 170combo fish and ski with a mint condition 125 Mercury - always garaged, no fading.

OK I thought I would re-post as a poll to make it easier for folks...

What a piece of junk....delivery to...
Seriously, she's immaculate. You've done an excellent job of keeping her up.
I would consider it an insult if anyone offered less than $6K.

Could be worse.
Last year I saw a Sea Rayder sitting on the side of the road 5 days before Xmas. I've been wanting one of these for years. It was $5K, 160 hours, clean as a pin with all the trimmin's. I've been wanting one of these an additional year now.

With gas prices and today's economic climate, you would be lucky to get$3000-$4000. Where I live, Craigslist has some real bargains and nobody's buying. Not a good time to sell.

Re: Help me Value this Boat

Hi Bro,

I sold a 17' fiberglass boat with a Merc 90, both in super clean and excellent condition.
Selling price was less than $3k. Times are tough, now, and the kind of boat you have
pesents a common issue for anyone considering a purchase. Another boat with a four
stroke will use much less fuel, or even the same boat. The choice is to consider a
four stroke at higher cost, or go with the two cycle at a lower initial purchase cost.

Any vale, whether in a pool, an estimate, or a book value, is meaningless until that
amount becomes viable in cash. If you want to sell it, then an auction will show what
the present value really is. It's value to you may be more than what you can get for it
in an auction, and that is another consideration.

That's a nice boat, and I wouldn't sell it, unless I had to. Then, I would cry, and get
on with it. Good luck!

Dunno but if you decide on a fair price and have it surveyed I may be interested...

Re: Help me Value this Boat

For what it is worth, NADA puts it at between $4800 and $5400 with a 75 HP outboard. Your 125 should increase the value a little, as would the fact that yours appears to be in above average condition for a 10-year-old boat. That said, I am not sure that NADA has quite caught up with decline in boat values that has occurred this summer. Combine this with the fact that about 1/2 of your potential buyers are putting their boats away for the winter and you are probably looking at the low end of the value range. Sales are down, but a good clean bat is still a rarity and they are still selling. Do you need to sell it now? If you could wait until spring, you may be much better off to sell it then. If the boat is as clean as it appears, I would be tempted to wait until spring and ask $6K for it and accept no less than $5500.

Re: Help me Value this Boat

I dont know about your value. I just talked to this guy today, and he is really wanting to move this boat. I researched them and found the average value at $14,500. If I had some extra cash laying around I would definitely buy this one and sit on it. He says it has 400 - 500 hours on it.

This is just a bad time to be selling...

I think the consensus is that the boat is something other members would pay less than $8500 for, with answers in the $5500-$7500 range the typical range.

You guys are way too low, based on whats for sale in the market, I think $8500 is fair.....

It seems you already know what you want to ask so worst case, you post it at $8500 and no one bites and you keep a beautiful boat.

However, realize its a buyers market. Sellers can ask for the moon, but its only what the perceived buyers would pay. I think this thread gives you an idea of what the market would pay. Again, ask and see what happens. Just be prepared to sit on it awhile.

Re: Help me Value this Boat

Those are asking prices. You can ask anything that you want. NADA and other guides are based on selling prices. As has been posted in many other threads, many asking prices are based on what people still owe on the boat they are trying to sell, not what it is actually worth in today's market. What could the equivalent boat be bought for new in today's market? The decrease in the value of new boats directly effects the value of used boats. If I could but that boat new for $18K (just pulling a figure out of the air) what would I pay for a 10-year-old boat? In my opinion $8500 is way more than a reasonable person would pay for that boat, especially in October, but it is not my boat and my opinion costs nothing and is probably worth just what you paid for it. I don't see anything in that boat or today's market that would make it worth almost double the NADA value. Ask anything that you want and the market will decide what it is "worth".

Careful now, actually 60% of this poll has it valued at $7500 or above. I tend to agree with this number at this particular time of year but will wait till next spring and ask a bit higher.

In the click on poll, yes. In the written comments, no.

However, I'm not in disagreement with your asking, I'm just indicating that its a buyers market and the fall season so the prices are going to be lower than the true market would reflect. You know what you want, but the market doesn't seem to want to bear it now.

Hey, in Canada, you'd get close to your asking price no problem considering the asking prices of some crap I've seen.

I said $7500 in the poll for the record.

Nada $6,070 + $750 for larger engine + $750 for what appears to be excellent condition = $7,570. I?d ask $8,000 even in today?s market though bad time of year to sell. On the other hand this is the time of year I shop for boats because sellers can?t be sure they?ll have another offer before winter sets in. At this time of year I?d offer you $6,000 and try to get you to meet me halfway at $7,000.
