I need a full tune up on my 1996 Johnson 150hp Ocean Runner outboard. I probably need the impeller to be replaced and a once over on everything to have a good season without any mechanical issues. Does anyone know what a typical price should be to have this work done? I just want to make sure do not get ripped off. Thanks for any responses.

Re: Tune up pricing

Carbs can cost $100 per to have rebuilt, mine has 6 carbs.
So I think you could spend $800-1000...and still have a crappy runner.
Most of us here do our own work with a factory manual and some tools.

If the engine is new to you, compression test, spark test and rebuild the carbs, change lower unit oil (check for water) , flush fuel system or re-hose it all , new water seperator , fuel filter on engine and test run on muffs and see if the pee stream is strong, or just go ahead and do the water pump too.
Then test run it on the water.
