Re: Haunted 115 Mariner?
You may have two separate problems.
You can troubleshoot both problems with an Ohms Meter, if you have one.
Ignition problem may be a defective new switch, wrong switch, or wrong installation. On the back of the ignition switch you should find two black wires, one of them solid black, the other is black with a thin yellow line along it. The black with yellow trace is from the ignition module, grounding this line to the black line is supposed to happen when the ignition switch is turned OFF and shorts the ignition signal to ground, very effectively killing spark thus killing the engine. Confirm that the black wire is grounded, and confirm that the ignition switch connects these lines when in the OFF position. A problem within the switch OR the black wire NOT going to ground on the battery and the engine will not die.
Second problem, oil alarm.
There is a magnetic switch in the bottom of the oil tank, sometimes the magnet becomes UN-glued to the float, falls near the switch, making it think that you are low on oil. Test by unplugging the two blue wires under the oil tank. Again, use the Ohms Meter to check continuity between the two blue wires from the switch, if the meter reads continuity then order a new oil tank from your dealer, it is NOT repairable. You may operate the craft with this switch unplugged IF you are Religious about checking your oil. Running out of oil would BE BAD, very bad, for your engine.
Repost any questions and the results of your testing.
