I have a 1982 35HP Evinrude, model# E35RCND. If I'm reading the model number decoder chart correctly......

RC= commercial, rope start, CD Ignition
N=counter rotation
D=Remote electric

Does "remote electric" mean I can add an electric starter to this motor?

Yes it can be converted to electric start but you are not reading the model correctly.
E= Evinrude
35= HP
R=Rope start
CN= Year (1982)
D= Model run

Re: Electric Starter for E35RCND

You might want to look for an inoperative 35hp outboard of that year. Usually, broken ones are cheap enough to make them a good alternative to buying the electric start parts new. Plus, you'll score some other usable parts to stash away.

There were lots of those made, and they're not particularly hot items on the used marketplace, so a broken one probably won't be too much.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using it as a tiller. Good idea about finding a used/broken motor. It looks like the electric start kits cost quite a bit.
