Ive got a Yamaha v4 140hp with precision blend oil injection.Only problem is that at the moment the oil injections all but precise.Blowing huge amounts of smoke at idle and start up and when slow running. The plugs are constantly oiling up in the process and this is making cold starts hard. The motor is also rough idling and stalling out.Ive adjusted the oil pump control arm and throtle idle but nothing seems to change it.Faulty oil pump?If so does anyone out there know how to go about testing one?

Re: Yamaha blowing smoke

Could be a faulty oil pump o-ring. There is an o-ring between the pump and engine block.

Re: Yamaha blowing smoke

two o'rings and a shaft seal to be replaced...you might find that the shaft seal is not available as a yamaha part and that you might be told that you have to buy a whole new pump!!.......the shaft seal is not on the parts list.......so all you need to do is take the O'rings and shaft seal down to your local bearings and seals outlet and they can match you up with new ones at a very cheap price. make sure you tell them that the seal is for two stroke oil!!.....last lot cost me all of $5 dollars!!......dont forget that when you reassemble the pump back onto the motor you are going to need to add oil to your fuel and run premix for the first 15 gallons or 50 litres due to making sure all the air is out of the oil pump system before you run straight fuel.:):)
