Oil Filter Relocation kit

I have a 4.3L MCM mercruiser, and awhile back bought a kit to move the oil filter to somewhere more accessible. I got *really* annoyed last year by the setup for the stock filter -- I couldn't get my hands or really even any tools around it to turn it, as half of the surface area on the side of the filter is nearly touching the block. I ended up having to pound a screwdriver into it to get the leverage to turn it, so not only did I have busted up hands, no patience left at all, and a filter that was still really hard to turn, but I also had a big oily mess.

Anyway, thought I'd pass the info along. Here's the kit: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRM-10695&N=700+0&autoview=sku
Oddly enough, the kind of filter that I use on my Audi works perfectly in this setup, here: http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd...di&model=TT+MKI&submodel=Quattro&engine=225HP

European filter stuck on a product made in Ontario on an American boat :D

I had the same issues. Would this be correct for my 2000 Mercruiser 5.0L as well? Thanks Ike

Make sure you have chafe protection on those hoses! And possibly double clamp each connections, If one comes lose your engine will be toast before you know what happened. We have a kit on our sailboat with nice swaged fittings and hydraulic hose.

The oil filter relocation we installed on the new 385 Stroker in our Baja is just a little more exotic....

I have had to remove several "Cheap" remote filter kits because the leak at the housing where it replaces the block filter. Just be very careful what you buy. One caused the engine to fail.
