I have recently found out my 2000 175HP Ocean Pro's #2 Cylinder was dead. Tested VRO Pump and Oil side wasn't working and fried it. Looking at buying a2000 200HP Johnson. Will parts from the 175HP work on the 200HP? Thanks.

What parts? The lower unit and the spark plugs will interchange but that's about it.

Was every cylinder void of oil?

Not that I know. The mechanic stated the #2 Cylinder was bad and it looked like it had traveled down to the #4.

It wasn't an oil injection issue then (2000's didn't have a VRO), if there was oil in any one cylinder there was oil in the fuel going to all carbs. If there wasn't oil in #2 the #2 carb may have been plugged but the oil injection was working.

Anyway, the 175 is a 60* design and the 200 is a 90* design. Both loopers, both good motors, the 200 is heavier. Tough call. If it were me and I was looking for all out speed the 200 is the choice. All around use & economy and I was happy with the 175 performance on that particular hull, I'd probably fix the 175.

Thanks for the info. I believe I will have it fixed. Talking to people really helped my decision. Thanks again.
