I was goin to order one of these for my 91 faststrike 150 but not sure I need it. The pee stream is strong after about 10-15 seconds but when I first start it up it is very weak. Is that a sign of wear or imminent failure or is this normal? I was going to install a water pressure guage but hav'nt gotten to it yet.

I think that may be normal. I have a 115 Johnson and my friend has a 200 Evinrude and they both take several seconds to start and have a strong stream afterwards.

However, I'm planning on replacing the impeller in the spring. If you recently acquired the motor or its been a few years, change it and check it out to see if you need a full repair kit.

Thanks, I figured that since the motor sat for so long before I got it I probably need to replace anyway. The complete water pump repair kit doesn't cost alot so I figured I'd do the whole thing while I was at it.

change it man if ya dont feel comfortable ,its way cheaper than powerhead
it may take a second to pee but if it has weak stream change it
if i havent seen the one on my boat for a season i pull lower and check usually change and do gear oil and gear oil drain seals

Will I need a new gearcase seal when I rebuild the waterpump? This may be a stupid question but I'd rather ask and know than find out the hard way. Thanks
