I sure could use some help/advice. Recently purchased a 1988 Starcraft 14' aluminum V-hull boat in need of some work. Things I have yet to be able to track down.
1. An owners manual
2. Instructions on how to replace transom board (rotted)
3. Wiring diagram - all wires cut, fuse box a mess.
4. Model name/number of the boat

I appreciate anyone who can provide help or point me in the direction of where I can obtain info. I have attached two pictures of what my boat looks like (not my actual boat)
Thanks

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard....

My Guesses are,....

1),.. I don't think I've ever seen an "Owner's Manual" for a 14' Rowboat....
It's just a tinboat...

2),.. Remove the Rotten Wood, then replace it with a like piece of New Wood....

3),.. It's a 14' Rowboat,... It didn't come with Wiring,... That's been added by previous owners...

4),.. Rowboat,.. 14'....

3. row.

there was a manual for a deluxe model that had an engine mount.

1. put boat in water.
2. refer to owners manual of your enigine for mounting and starting instructions !

WELCOME TO I BOATS !

this place is boat university....any question you wanna ask has been discussed on these forums at one time or another...just hit search.

in the compleated projects forum there are several aluminium transom replacements. lund's and dj's are great examples.

they will take you step by step with pictures, thru anything you want to do with your boat.

the electrical forum will also have wiring diagrammes for you.....

hope that helps,

cheers

Re: 1988 Starcraft repairs

Well, you could always try what I did... Wiring is easy for me so I would just rip it out and start over. I understand that's not the norm so I would start looking at the components that require wiring and then work backwards to the source of power or monitoring. I only see one wire comming from the engine so I suspect that's a hot lead off a rectifer that's fed off the magneto. If it's comming from somewhere around the ignition (coil, etc.) its probably a Tach. I doubt there's a temp sensor on that engine but there could have been one added on. That would be near the oil filter if there is one.

Let us know what gauges you have if any. Is it electric/manual start ?

Re: 1988 Starcraft repairs

Hi,

Most of the questions have already been answered... But here we go...

1. An owners manual - Odds are that this is Starcraft Seafarer... That's the only small model of that design that could handle the engine you currently have. (The Sealite max'es out at 15hp.) Try Craigslist, ebay, amazon, and abebooks for documentation/advertisements. If that doesn't work, give Starcraft a shout.

2. Instructions on how to replace transom board (rotted)... Pics wold help here greatly.

3. Wiring diagram - all wires cut, fuse box a mess. Already been covered. In general, this forum has already hashed out the generic "How To" questions... Just search on "wiring" and then brace yourself.

4. Model name/number of the boat - See above.

That's a nice boat by the way... Enjoy!

Alan
