I am restoring a 17' Thunderbird Seminole cathredal hull outboard powered boat. The original back to back seats are beyond repair. Any comments on this type seating versus individual seats. The boat will be primarily used for pleasure riding and occasionally for fishing.

Re: boat seating

TD's right.
How many people usually ride?
You could install two separate seats up by the dash providing more room for fishing.
You could a bench all the way aft.
You could put a single seat behind the wheel and a lounge on the other side.

Yep, the only limit is your creativity and how you intend to use the boat. I favor seats/seating that is easily reconfigurable or removable, depending on what I'll be doing with the boat next time out.
