quicksilver throttle control

on a 1988 mercury 35 hp and the throttle arm will not stay at wot. it keeps backing off. is there an adjustment for this ?

Normally (I don't know what's on your controls) there is a throttle tension adjustment that allows you to stiffen it up. (but I'm fairly new to this!) Does your controls have anything like that?

where would this tensioner be located ?

Mine is located on the aft side of the controls. Just a little knob. I think they could be on top as well. If you don't see it pretty clearly it probably doesn't have one. But as I said before, I'm fairly new to this, and am just relaying info I have learned so far.

If it doesn't, I'm not to sure where to start from there.
