Good Evening. I have attached a picture of the bottom paint on my new project. Can anyone tell me what paint this looks like from the pic? Is it still available and if not what can I apply directly over this surface? All in all the bottom looks good with only minor areas like the picture. Thank you

Re: Bottom Paint questions

My fault. Need to clarify the question. A few people have told me that the bottom had been painted with a copper paint, and that this product was no longer available. The question is..Can you tell if the bottom paint is a copper base? If so still available? If not what can go over it? The blue is cleaning up fine. Thanks

Re: Bottom Paint questions

Yes, copper bottom paint is still available - it just doesn't have the same amount of cuprous oxide as the older stuff did. Your WM right there at the Midpoint Bridge will carry some but it might be cheaper for you to go to the salvage yard on 41 - just north of the bridge. I'm pretty sure they carry it and will be cheaper.
Here's something I found on the web - thought you might like to take a read thru it :http://www.yachtworks.net/Store/antifouling_bottom_paint.htm.
Here is another excellent reference :http://www.yachtpaint.com/usa/default.asp
As far as overcoating is concerned you'll get all that info off the new can of paint - all depends on what you purchase.
