:confused:i have a stratos bass boat with a 1989 johnson v6 200. when i start the motor up it starts up fine:D. my problem is trying to keep it running:mad:. it runs for a minute or two then turns off. i notice each time it shuts off the ball pump goes soft. :confused:it seems like gas is not getting feed into the motor without me manually pumping the ball:redface:. can anyone pin piont the problem and tell me what the cost might be:confused:.THANKS......

Re: 1989 v6 200

Welcome to Iboats!

My first thought would be a leaking fuel line or fuel pump.
Have someone pump the primer bulb for you while you look everything over on the motor.
Primer bulbs go bad too.

How does it run after warmed up? does it keep doing it?
If you find no leaks then replace the primer bulb...10 bucks or so.

Let us know if that fixes it.:)

Other things that come to mind are a faulty fuel pump itself, as your manual pumping action is replacing the job of the pump, keeping her running.

As Tash stated, check to ensure that the tank vent is clear, and also check the anti syphon valve, they are notorious for sticking in a semi closed position. Knock the guts out of it to see if this is the problem.

Re: 1989 v6 200

my 83 had the same probs .
make sure you have no leaking lines
use 3/8 line and large primer bulb.for supply,
if your running on and inboard tank .go to another temp tank.
on mine i ended up with primervalve leak .
that also caused it to run rich .you may try pushing in your choke
if it runs better you know you have a supply prob.
i ended up changeing both my pumps and rebuilt primer and all hoses
are you mixing your gas or running vro
