I have an old Sears/Elgin 6 H.P. motor that I am looking to sell. Does anyone know what the value of these old motors is? The plate identifies it as 571.58642 and the serial # is 642-3487. It does not run, the side casing is blown out and what looks to be the crankshaft is visible. It is really a shame because otherwise the motor is in exceptional condition with slight scratches on the original paint/decals, has the original glass bowl, original pull rope with wood handle etc. Just looking to get it out of my basement but would like to know its' value.

Re: Old Elgin Motor

Un fortunately sounds like a parts motor. No telling what else it needs.
If you could get $25 feel lucky.Actually you could try to part it out on ebay.53 6hp Built by West Bend. Parts will fit Elgin or West Bend.

Re: Old Elgin Motor

Unfortunately not much for value. $25 would be doing real well, I paid $15 for a similar one a couple of months ago, all it needs is a carburetor cleaning.
