Would it be possible/practical to build something like a lift to carry a small Jet Ski on the rear of my Bayliner? I love my stand up Kawasaki 650SX but I love the boat too. It weighs about 300 lbs. I figure that a large diving platform on the rear of a boat could hold a 300 lbs person so I would think that having excess weight over the stern isn't much of a problem as long as its properly braced, fiberglassed, etc. Would there be any problems getting on plane? Would trim tabs be needed?

I dunno, just an idea I thought up last night. Thanks guys

sounds like a good idea to have yer ski along.... however....
i'd think a 19' cuddy would be kinda heavy. + it's got the 3.0... kinda pushin it for lack of power already i'd think. + that 300lbs would all be at the stern, past the stern even... i'd guess ya will be lookin at the sky before plane. if you can get to plane...
tabs would help by their nature... enough. i don't know...

fwiw. my 4.1 notices 2 adults in the back two seats.... higher bow rise, longer to plane... my boats not real heavy either... i've got no tabs...

when a boat is in motion, no one is one the swim platform. as Ziggy said, it would be next to impossible to plane that boat. imho, a 3.0 should not be in anything larger than 16-17 feet.

A company called St Croix Makes a roll-on davit system for tenders. It might work but I agree your boat might not carry the weight well.
I think a better option might be to tow the 'ski behind your boat.
A harness would be needed and it requires constant attention by a crewmember while underway.

My boat's just a little bigger, but here's how we tow our 3 person SeaDoo.
Three summers and we haven't lost it yet :D

Is the 3.0L that lacking in power? Even with 6 people total on board I've been satisfied with its performance...I understand the other factors involved but I'm satisfied with cruising around or a little under 30 mph

Is it true that you need a valve placed in one of the cooling lines to keep water from filling the engine or is that a myth?

It's true, but only on some water-cooled PWC's. My SeaDoo requires a shut-off valve but I'm not sure about yours. I simply installed a Home Depot PVC gate valve into the line. To prevent engine overheat, I always tie the starting lanyard right to the valve so we don't forget to open it up after the tow.

but adding 3-400 lbs, behind the engine throws the center of gravity off too much. tow it as suggested, after you add the valve.
