I just bought a 1977 bass boat. Ran some seafoam thru the motor to clean. Then ran some fresh gas to clean out the seafoam. Motor is running great. After that I changed the plugs, impeller, gear oil everything brand new. I took the dist cap off and was going to change the cap and rotor. But the rotor doesnt come off I think its one big unit. I have looked but cant seem to find one for sale. Does anyone know more about these distributor system?

Rotor and shaft are one piece. Replacements are available for $200plus. Didy caps are avail for $100Plus, triggers are avail for $200plus.

The bottom line is that thes components last a long time, perhaps the life of the motor. Replacement parts are expensive and can be a bit difficult to install. It is not like your car's cap and rotor.

If the cap is not cracked,.... just clean up the contacts. You can replace the center pin unit for short money. I replaced my cap ,rotor and bearings on my 800, is was a small fortune.
