Had the first noreaster here and the K2500 and 9' plow worked great.....
I obviously did not heare the screams of the gear reduction starter but it passed away
It had a good life but it's gone......
Okay here is the truck parked in the yard and it is a nice 14 degrees out. The starter is 2 simple bolts and 2 wires......
Bolts no problem. The main like from the battery broke off the copper tab... the smaller wire broke off the connector too.
Get it all apart and bench test the starter.... yuo dead.
Trip to Napa pick up starter, new positive cable and junction connector. Napa did not have the starter so had to go cross town and pick one up at the other Napa store.
Start the assembly and the junction connector is the wrong size for the wire.....Hey look at that exhaust clamp? It is rotted away.... Napa trip again.
Assembled and test
All bots tight...... working now I go into a tie down mode for the wires and find a huge spot of corrosion in a wire to the "one wire" alternator. Wow what a pretty christmas green color the wire was. Chop oout the corrosion and head to Napa for a weather proof butt connector.
Everything is together, tied down, checked and covered all the exposed connections with LPS.
Hopefully I will be good for the season. Typical multi trip repair
