I don't know but ive had this killer sore throat ever since we put out Xmas tree up. Its a pine. Ive never had this problem and i live in the woods. Any one ever had this? Could this tree be pollinating? I don't dare tell the family the tree is making me sick:( or for shure i will be the one leaving not the tree.

Re: Sore throat

Sounds like a coincidence to me. Have you heard of any illness going around in your area? Have you had any other pine christmas trees up in the past? Any other family members suffering from the same thing?

If you truely think that it is the tree.....just think you don't have to much longer before you can take it down. If you have a tradition on taking it down on new years, break the tradition, and take it down ASAP. Get yourself some chloraseptic sore throat spray to ease the pain in the mean time. I've fealt a little under the weather today myself, haven't had my Vitamin C in the past few days :(.

Re: Sore throat

I got 23 pine trees in my front yard alone. But no sore throat problems from them. Gargle with hot salty water. Old home remedy that works good.

Re: Sore throat

That's too bad - I hate a sore throat.
I agree...never heard of a tree causing a sore throat. Probably coincidence. It is the cold and flu season.

some brandy, honey, and caring spouse, should fix you right up. eucalyptus, will do that to a person. but the first symptom is burning eyes.

I've used the honey, lemon juice, and some kind of spice (I believe Garlic) for a remedy. It seemed to work. That was a few years back.

well no matter the cause. i've got a remedy that always seems to work. i take half a ginger. chop, it up. then throw it into my tea. i've also hear of people adding honey, and lemon. but just the ginger works for me. let me know how it goes.
