Lower Unit Oil for old Evinrude

I have just acquired a 1972 6 HP Evinrude outboard motor that I plan on using with my Achilles dinghy.

Can anyone here tell me what kind of Lower Unit Gearcase Oil I should use with this motor?

The service manual says to use OMC Sea Lube oil, but that is just a name and doesn't specify exactly what kind or grade of oil it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

80-90 lower unit oil, it has an additive incase of water intursion.

Your best bet is to stick with Evinrude lower unit gear oils

Sounds like the best idea..I will visit my local Evinrude dealer tomorow and see what he recommends.

I agree, they probably want you to buy the issue or order a copy of the story to read the charts.
