Fuel Consumption for 9.9 hp outboard

Can anyone advise me as to the approx fuel consumption for a 9.9 hp engine. i need to get a new portable tank for it as it didnt come with one.

if i have put this question in the wrong section sorry as iam new to this group

The 10% rule says that it would burn approximately 1 gal of fuel an hour at WOT, but my 9.9 burns more like 1 1/4 GPH at WOT.

your choices will be 3, 5, or 6 gallons. If you are an infrequent user I would suggest a 3 gallon version. This will ensure you use most of the fuel with each outing, which ensures you always use fresh gas. The larger tanks obviously would allow longer run time but again, if you are an infrequent user, you would likely have lots of fuel left that has a tendency to sour. If you use the engine frequently, then a larger tank is in order. Just my humble opinion.

(2) 3 gallon tanks, if you can. Use 1 for normal days out, then use 2 for large excursions. Don't leave old gas around.

Thanks very much for the advice. will opt for 20ltr with a 12 ltr back up.
