How long Trailer?

I just bought a 1993 Bluefin Spectrum welded aluminum model #1956 with a 4.3 liter Mercuiser stern drive. It is about 19.5 feet long plus the leg.
When I bought it I had to use a trailer from a 17 foot fiberglass boat that is too short. The balance point is way too far back and the bow is too close to the tow vehicle.
How long over all should the new trailer be?

Ayuh,...

That question is Unanswerable...

The Bed area of the trailer has to Match the hull your putting on it....
The neape can be whatever length you order, or the manufacturer decides is Right...

i always buy a trailer that has and adjustable axle carriage. i also buy longer tongue than required, make easier launching/retrieving. and tows better. moving the axles balances the load so you have correct tongue weight.

Re: How long Trailer?

I found a decent painted trailer for the old fiberglass hull so I'm going to keep the old trailer (galvanized w. new lights, hubs, axle and springs) and lengthen the tongue by 3-4 feet. I will move the axle back then see how it rides.

BTW - Loved the post about the trampoline legs for guide-ons. Might have something like that here too.

i have moved on from tramp legs, these actually work better. the muffler shop sells 2" muffler clamps that fit perfectly, then some all thread, and plate.

Are those plastic pipes? I am thinking of doing something similar and building side bunks. Can they take a hit (I often load in windy conditions).
