Okaaay.

I would have thought that with all of the poisonous snakes and spiders that you blokes have down there, that he would know what the heck he was handling.

Drinking and snake handling must not work I guess that would be another item on the what not to do while drunk

It has been proven ( I watch a lot of nature shows on TV ) that primates ie monkeys have a natural instinctive fear of snakes. I must not have jumped far from the evolutionary tree as I am dearly afraid of snakes.:p:D

A cow snake or black snake bite would put me into cardiac arrest from fear!!

I read somewhere that the majority of snake bites here in the USA are to people under the influence. Might be the same way downunder... G'day mate!

Hey!!!

The real down under is the Netherlands!
That's where I was born and grew up.(well the growed up part is exagurated a bit!)

Holland lies below sea level for about a 3rd of it or so.

Both "down unders" have treacherous snakes, The brown Adder is one deadly snake and it resides there in the forested areas.

I know Dutchmen are stubborn, but we don't get all up in arms over snakes too much, although I never really liked holding on to the toothed end of one!! Drunk or not! :D

And the worst thing is, you have to tell them whether it was a king brown or just a regular brown that bit ya because the anti-venom is different.

LOL, maybe that's why he put it in the bag.

Would you want THIS in your aquarium???:eek::eek:

That is a real photo of an olive python trying to get a wallaroo out of the water. Those wallaroo (male) can reach up to 6 feet in height (not including the tail) and the snakes have been recorded in excess of 12 feet in the wild. If we use those dimensions I have to think than the wallaroo is not a full grown adult. Also, the snake was not able to get the wallaroo after about an hour of trying. Still, that is a huge snake that you will not find in my aquarium...

Re: Only in Darwin, Norther Territories, Australia

Good photo Spots.
Hadn't seen that one before.

We get a local snake called a Carpet Snake and we mistake it for the Brown.....well no one hangs around to make a positive identification.....which raises the point, most Aussie Blokes can do the standing quarter in steel cap boots in 20 secs, cause the Brown can do it in 25.....nah!!~, just joking.
Browns attack humans straight up....no hesitation....and they move fast.

Everyone working here must wear covered in footwear, and it must be laced up....so you can run fast when you have too.

8 odd yrs back, me and John were cleaning out an overgrown garden when Johns comes bolting out "@#$% a $%^&*@ Brown", so we both took off. Didn't know what to do, then home comes my oldest (30 at time) .

What are you blokes doing?
Cleaning up
Want a hand?
Great

in he goes with a fork.

John calls out: "watch out for Mrs Brown"
Who's Mrs Brown?
Oh, a real snake 'y Bxtch

That was it....he was out of there in under 1 second.
Never did finish that job.
Waited for a cool day and threw a roman candle in there.

Cheers
Phillip

Hey Kiwi Phil could you mail one of those to someone ....... strictly as a gift?

There could be some serious money to be made...... a six pack and a pet in one package?

There are a few people that deserve such a gift!

Plenty of hazzardous gift ideas from Oz... Saltwater crocks, funnel web spiders, great white sharks, red back spiders, blue ringed octopus, brown snakes, death adders, fierce snakes, some kinda ducked billed beaver thingy that can sting you with it's ankles and I saw one of those cuddly koalas nearly rip some guy's arm off once.

There should be a sign at the airport:

Welcome to Australia.

Don't touch anything!

Re: Only in Darwin, Norther Territories, Australia

Always wanted to do the "truckee" thing on the trains.

I think I could actually fit in and enjoy the work, seeing I have all the attributes, Stubbornness, Ignorance, a profound capacity for suds storage, and superbly enhanced vocabulary variances!
And...I can run faster then a speeding Brown!

I could bring a boat , to rest on the bonnet so as to have it readily available for when the floods arrive.

:D:D:D, I would visit Phil.... and test the hospitality skills of the local sheila's and......awwww I'll stop here! (anything to get away from this cold Manna from heaven!)

PH.

If snow were like Manna, I would start a new very fast food chain (as Manna rots in a day!):D
