i have been working on this boat four years now the wiring harness is there but no gages theres a 10 gage orange wire that goes to alternator and theres a 10 gage red goes to starter blk grd i put new oil pressure sender old one was warning lights also water tempurature sender same this boat has electric shift need help wiring questions which wires go where starting at the ignition its three tab battery/ignition/starter need help with these gages amp/fuel/oil pressure/water temp/rpm tach/ mph i have a fuse pannel and ground strip i have the lights/blower/bildge on their own switches they work also wired in the gage lights with light switch i dont have a trim pump only tilt and also ballist resister this boat was a project ive painted it had stern drive done professionally the boat ran years ago so i know engine is OK ? this boat is a 18ft tri/hull waterski/fish thats it i have omc manual but my wiring isnt diagram for gages etc thanks for your time was in motorcycle accident year ago haven't worked very little fundage or i would have mechanic work on it

At the very top of this form is a sticky titled: Generic Boat Wiring Diagram By Silvertip. It will cover how the instrument panel is wired. If this were my boat I would eliminate the AMP gauge and replace it with a VOLT gauge just to get rid of the heavy gauge wire required for its operation. Besides, the voltmeter is much more useful. Just because the engine ran well years ago does not mean it still runs. Have you tried to turn it over by hand. It may be seized due to non-use.
