Teleflex and Faria gauges

I was looking at some OEM Bayliner gauges made by Faria. I was surprised that Bayliner would use the Faria line becuase they are more expensive than Teleflex. But what really caught my eye is that the back side of the Faria gauge looks exactly like a Teleflex gauge I have. Same light socket, same mounting studs, same color plastic housing, etc.

Is there any relationship between Teleflex and Faria with gauges?

Its the same as mowers, I almost defy you to buy a mower that wasn't made by MTD they have a dozen brand names but they are all the same mower.

The gauges are probably the same, made on the same line with a diiferent name put on them.

probably made on the same line with a different name but may not exactly be the same. different production runs (for the different brands), may use different components to just make the same style of item. quality of components would most likely dictate the price difference (different needle component, bearings rather then bushings, etc). maybe even an extra production step or two as well. either way I'm curious to know if this is the case.

To Quote- "Its the same as mowers, I almost defy you to buy a mower that wasn't made by MTD they have a dozen brand names but they are all the same mower.

There are tons of incestuous relationships within this industry. Alot of times competing companies share the same suppliers- thus similarities in the finished product. Think about all of the cross over in outboard parts over the years! Incest= Merc, Yamaha, Honda, Nissan/ Tohatsu. Yes, they all compete, but over the years there have been many parts crossed between them...and there are so many more. Deals and agreements floursish and then sour (Mercury/ Yamaha- remember the dumping law suit?). How about Suzuki/ OMC/ BRP?

So it is entirely possible and even likely that there is some common thread between Faria and Teleflex.

Now to accept the challenge on the mowers- I can name other manufacturers outside of MTD making riding mowers....

MTD makes a ton of brands typically sold at discount stores including MTD, Yard Man, Poulan, Marray, Ralley, White, Yard Machines, and Cub Cadet. There are too many to list.

Briggs & Stratton own what was independent Simplicity- who builds Simplicity, Massey Ferguson, Agco, Snapper, Allis Chalmers

John Deere is independant

American Yard Products is also huge and they make Sears Craftsman, Roper, and Husqvarna

Toro makes Toro and what is left of Wheel Horse

There are a few others that I don't have the energy or care to remember or post....

Sorry if I hijacked this thread.....
