Imron Paint for Boat Left in the Water?

I am thinking of having my old FW painted from the rubrail down to the boot stripe, it's red and badly oxidized gelcoat. I have spoke to a couple of shops here that paint boats and both seem to think that Imron is the best for durability, but I have heard mixed things about leaving a boat in the water. In this case the boat is bottom painted and there is going to be a boot stripe between the end of the hullside paint and the bottom paint. Any thoughts on this? If the gelcoat could be restored I'd prefer not to paint but it never seems to last long, and it's been wetsanded once already. Can't stand driving around in a pink boat anymore!

Re: Imron Paint for Boat Left in the Water?

The last time I had a hydro painted, I took it to a good friend of mine who does bodywork. Told him I wanted Imron. He said he had something better.
Ten year old paint job still looks fantastic on a plywood boat that gets severely pounded.
Problem is, I can't remember the name of the paint.
I'll see if I can hook up with him this week.
